Suspected Drunk Driver Levels Power Pole Near Placerita
A 37-year old man is behind bars this morning, suspected of driving under the influence and crashing into a power pole Sunday night.
According to Sgt. Ronald Price of the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's station, Victor Alvara hit a power pole on Sierra Highway at Placerita Canyon Road around 10:30 p.m. Deputies arrested him on suspicion of drunk driving and booked him at the Santa Clarita Valley station, where is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.

The Santa Clarita City Council will vote on how to distribute $100,000 in community service grants to local non-profits. The City gives out money each year to organizations that have a local impact in the community.
A list of recommended non-profits and donation amounts was crafted by the Community Services Grant Committee, and the City Council will get the chance to offer final approval Tuesday night.
